First Sergeant Alexander has dedicated over 11 years to the Intelligence Division of the Maryland State Police. His commitment to law enforcement was inspired by a personal experience in which he and his brothers were wrongfully detained. This event motivated him to pursue a career where he could positively reshape the culture of policing. Encouraged by his mother and aunt, who instilled in him a deep sense of duty to protect others, First Sergeant Alexander has remained focused on fostering community trust and improving public safety.A native of the New York metropolitan area and a graduate of Stamford High School in Connecticut, First Sergeant Alexander holds a Bachelor’s degree in Homeland Security from Everest University, a Post-Bachelor’s certificate in Homeland Policy, and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Walden University. His career in public service began in 2000 with the Connecticut Department of Corrections, where he gained valuable experience in the criminal justice system. In 2004, he joined the Maryland State Police, serving in various capacities, including Community Relations while at Forestville Patrol Barrack, Executive Protection detail, and Specialized Operational Units details. Throughout his career, he has earned multiple certifications in areas such as sports security, crowd management, and hazard mitigation terrorism, Critical Infrastructure security.
In 2023, First Sergeant Alexander was promoted to his current rank, where he advocates for leadership development and cultural change within the agency. He has completed the International Association of Chiefs of Police Leadership and Instructor courses and actively trains personnel in Leadership to improve policing practices and enhance community relations.
As the President of the Coalition of Black Maryland State Troopers, an organization dedicated to uplifting minorities within law enforcement, First Sergeant Alexander is committed to fostering diversity and ensuring equitable service to the people of Maryland. He continues to work toward restoring public trust by building strong community partnerships and advancing proactive solutions to modern crime challenges.
